Why does one Get Different Duty Rates for the Same Source and Destination Countries?
The duty rate will also depend on the Country of Manufacture as Management Dynamics captures rules of origin and preferential trade agreements.
What is the Purpose of the "GROUP" Column on the Landed Cost Result Page?
It shows whether the preferential or default duty rate was used in the derived landed cost result calculation.
Why do I Have to Input Several Units of Measure?
Units of measure can be used for duty calculations or other taxes calculations. In the Management Dynamics product, the first unit of measure will be directly derived from the Tariff Schedule, while the second and possibly third, will be coming from an Excise or other governmental publications.
Will the Mode of Transport or the Date of Export/Import Affect the Landed Cost Calculation?
Yes. The mode of transport can influence the type of taxes to be calculated. For example, if the goods are shipped by sea the landed cost tool will calculate additional fees such as Harbor Maintenance Fee. The date of export, on the other hand, may impact currency conversion.
What is ALADI?
ALADI is an association of Latin American states, which negotiated preferential trade rules among its members in a number of agreements. The preferential duty rates were reflected in supplementary tariffs: NALADI, NALADISA 93 and NALADISA 96. You can find the ALADI tables in the reference section of the Management Dynamics Wizards.
What is a Preferential Program?
Preferential trade status means that goods imported from certain countries are entitled to a lower rate of duty than are goods from "Most Favored Nations" or countries with normal trade relations.

There are three main types of preferential programs; those based upon membership in a Customs Union, those based upon membership in a Trade Bloc, and those that are intended to accelerate economic prosperity in so-called developing countries.
What is EU Point of Entry Discount?
Consistent with European Union laws, a discount is applied to the international freight costs on shipments via air entering the European Union. The discount is applied based on country of origin-country of destination logic, tanking into consideration the most conservative numbers. Duty is calculated on the reduced CIF value after the discount in international freight has been considered.
What is a Complex Calculation?
Duty calculations differ for certain complex types of products when imported in the United States. Product groups for which Management Dynamics Complex Calculator determines duties are ensembles, tool sets, clocks and watches. In case of a complex calculation, the duty depends on the individual parts of the product group.
